Jim began building homes in1975 and almost immediately started his quest to build the best energy saving homes he could build due to the nation’s energy crisis at that time. Through diligent monitoring of his customers’ energy bills he discovered what worked and what theories just were not working. Due to his persistent study and innovation he is now a nationally recognized leader in the energy efficient/green movement and is often referred to as the “Godfather of Green”.
The Energy and Environmental Building Association chose Jim Sargent to be the first builder in the Nation to receive the Master Builder designation for building energy efficient homes.
The National Association of Home Builders has recognized Jim as a Graduate Master Builder, a Certified Graduate Builder, and a Certified Aging in Place Specialist.
He is in demand both locally and nationally as a speaker and teacher and has been a popular featured guest on radio and television.
Vickie started her building career as an employee of Mr. Sargent. After 5 years, she started her own construction company, adding both finance and real estate divisions to assist her customers in financing their new homes and selling their old homes.
Vickie understands the current complicated financial climate better than anyone I know. She is to home financing what Jim is to energy-efficient home building.
In 2003 Vickie and Jim joined forces again as business partners creating the firm of AndersonSargent Custom Builders, L.P.
As partners, they created the first true Zero Energy Home, meaning the home produces as much energy as it uses.
In 2006 the National Association of Home Builders chose AndersonSargent as the builder of the “Best Green Concept House in America”.
In 2006, the U.S. Department of Energy named Jim “National Builder of the Year” for his energy efficient homes.
The State of Texas recognized AndersonSargent with the CATEE Award (Clean Air Through Energy Efficiency) for their effect on clean air in Texas, both through the energy efficient homes they have built and also through their teaching and sharing their knowledge with other builders.
